Romanian youths gathered their voices to urge the heads of the state for the support of the establishment of international law for peace

On May 14, an event with the title of “Youth, Let’s Voice Out” was held in the National Library of Romania with 100 participants including students of Middle School No. 113 of Bucharest, Middle School Mihai Botez, and Hyperion University present. The event was hosted by an international peace NGO called Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) under the UN ECOSOC in cooperation with its affiliated youth organization, International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), and Romanian peace youth organization, MasterPeace Ro.

In commemoration of the 6th anniversary of Declaration of World Peace, “Youth, Let’s Voice Out” was aimed at encouraging Romanian young adults to participate in youth-led peace activity, “Peace Letter Campaign”. The Declaration addresses the value of shared effort of all members of society as they work as peace messengers. It includes principles such as that the heads of each state to sign an international agreement—a commitment to bring all wars to an end, that all youth to unite in an effort to stop wars and pursue the restoration of peace, and that the media to report responsibly and promote a message of peace to the world.

Such values from the Declaration led to drafting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as an advanced designation of global responsibility to establish a legally binding international legal framework for peace. This event focused on the “Peace Letter Campaign” to urge for the support of the heads of each state to develop it into a legally binding document by submitting it as a resolution to the UN.

Priest Carlan-Ungureanu Constantin from the National Society of Orthodox Women from Romania delivered his congratulatory remarks by saying “Today, we are here for the 6th anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace and I would like to thank HWPL for their peace initiatives that aim to leave peace as a legacy for the next generation. I hope world peace will soon be achieved as Romanian youths gather to join such peace activities.”

Ms. Jeni Sendroiu, the founding member of MasterPeace Ro stressed the role of youth for peace by saying, “the current and former presidents, law experts, and governmental bodies have been voicing out their support for the DPCW. Starting from this event, Romanian youths also need to raise their voices for legislation of the DPCW for a better, righteous, and peaceful world.”

Ms. Sonia Simionov, a war correspondent in Observator- Antena 1, shared what she had seen and felt at the actual site of conflict with the topic of ‘'The cruelty of the war seen in the eyes of a war correspondent and the meaning of peace”. “Why is peace so important? Because it does not kill anyone. I think people like you, youth, possess a lot of potential and knowledge to work for peace. I believe that it is our duty to educate each other with a culture of peace,” she added.

At the end of the event, the youth participants of the event wrote peace letters to the President of Romania, and “The Peace Statement of the Youth of Romania” was announced to urge the heads of the state for the support of the establishment of international law for peace based on the DPCW. “The Peace Statement of the Youth of Romania” contains the request for a reply to the peace letters that the Romanian youths and citizens sent and for the National Solidarity Statement which is the statement of the support for the DPCW at the national level.

The Peace Statement of the Youth of Romania

We, the youth, at the times of the outbreaks of wars and conflicts, have been suffered through the pain of such eras in which we had to fight in the wars at the front line. Even at this very moment, many youths, who are born at the same era as the same human being, are losing their precious lives being part of the wars while not even once being able to come into bloom. Death cannot be compensated with anything and death is making another death.

Therefore, we would like to deliver the will of the youth of Romania to stop any furthermore unnecessary sacrifices and fulfill the peace of the world peace to the President of Romania.

Including us, the youth all around the world have delivered 381,616 peace letters in order to urge support of the presidents of 33 countries towards the establishment of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War into the international law.

Dear Mr. President of Romania, please reply to the peace letter we have delivered to your excellency in which we have enclosed our hearts of our wanting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War - which has an immense potential of practically ceasing all wars and conflicts - to be established as the international law. Also, we ask you to make a written Declaration of State Support of Romania which includes the content of the state-level support for the establishment of the DPCW into the international law.

Dear Mr. President, when the youth in Romania are putting their hearts into vigorously engaging in peace activities, please show your strong support and interest.

Dear Mr. President, please participate in the work of leaving peace to the future generations as a legacy.

We, the youth as the future leaders of Romania, Europe and moreover, the global community, will become the messengers of peace who take a lead in making the world of peace without wars.
