On October 23, religious leaders in Romania and Germany working closely with HWPL had the interfaith online prayer meeting to overcome COVID-19.
At the event “the Alliance of Religions’ Prayer Meeting for Resolution of COVID-19,” hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), religious leaders in Romania and Germany urged everyone to work together, putting aside their differences in borders, languages, and religions to end COVID-19 once and for all.
All the events were held online, with approximately 40 participants including the young adults, believers and religious leaders from Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, and Orthodox Church.
Buddhist monks put their hands together at a temple enshrining Buddha statue, while Catholic priests lifted up the candlelight for the rites at church with the pictures of sacred subjects. Participants wearing formal dresses also joined the prayer meeting with courtesy in their own religious manners and places, folding their hands respectfully in quiet rooms.
The online meeting started with an opening prayer of Mr. Adrian Tautul, a Prarish Priest of Biserica Razvan Hagia Church in Romania. Religious leaders recited prayers with the messages of hope for people, struggling in the middle of the coronavirus crisis. And lastly, there was a Q&A session where the youths were able to ask questions.
Mr. Amir Aziz, an imam of Ahmadiyya-Moschee in Wilmersdorf in Germany, prayed hoping for the end of the coronavirus pandemic in Europe and the whole world, “Our Lord, the whole world became selfish, self-centered and careless in remembering you. We ask your mercy and favor so that we can fight and defeat this coronavirus. O Lord, provide intellect, intelligence, knowledge and wisdom to the doctors, scientist and companies to be able to make a vaccine to fight this killer virus.”
Cârlan Ungureanu Constantin, a Parish Priest of Biserica Sfântul Ştefan, Romanian Orthodox Church delivered a prayer for those who were damaged from human rights abuses and social injustices caused by COVID-19, “Heal us, God, from the suffering of the flesh and the soul, and make us alive through the Grace of Your Christ, through the prayers of Our All-holy, immaculate, God-bearer and Ever-Virgin Mary, with the power of the Righteous and life maker Cross, with the protection of the Righteous and Heavenly beings without flesh, with the prayers of the righteous and holy Prophet the Forerunner and John the Baptist, with the prayers of the holy and praised the Apostles.”
After the prayer, Rabbi Zsolt Balla from Israelitische Religionsgemeinde zu Leipzig shared his video, ‘Message for Young People from a Religious Leader’. In his video, he said, “I am wishing you comfort. I am wishing you power to overcome all these challenges that we face and never forget that we are all in this together not just one religion rather we all are in there. And our eyes are all towards heaven to seek heavenly assistance to overcome all what is waiting for us.”
Religious leaders who attended the event have been participating the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace Office (WARP Office) organized by HWPL. HWPL WARP Office is an interfaith meeting to compare and discuss different religious scriptures and find the most trustworthy scripture for resolving conflicts and wars caused by the religious discord. In the WARP Office, leaders of various religions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Islam are actively participating globally. Currently, HWPL is running 253 WARP offices in 129 countries. HWPL Incheon branch is working with two in Germany and one in Romania.
Online interreligious prayer meetings are organized across Europe and Asia by the core group of religious leaders attending the WARP Office. Also, HWPL volunteers who fully recovered from the coronavirus infection participated in massive plasma donations twice in order to help pharmaceuticals develop vaccines and convalescent plasma treatments for COVID-19.
